CLUE | International Lighting Design Competition

Propose :

For this third edition of the CLUE competition, candidates are invited to reflect on these questions. Proposals should suit the context of a public space—interior or exterior—and should answer a social need while improving quality of life and having a positive impact on the community, all through the personalization of lighting. There are no budgetary or technological limitations, and candidates are given carte blanche to present inventive lighting solutions. Proposals will be evaluated on the relevance and the originality of their approach.

Concept :

“The most important requirement for an object that is considered to be beautiful is that it fulfills the purpose for which it is destined, not as if it were a matter of gathering together problems solved individually and assembling them to produce a heterogeneous result, but rather with a tendency toward a unified solution where the material conditions, function, and character of the object are taken care of and synthesized, and once the good solutions are known it is a matter of taking that one which is most fitting to the object as deduced from the need to attend to its function, character, and physical conditions.” (Martinelli 1967, p125)
Be it fashion store, law firm, or even a normal house hold coffee tables are present every where adding light to it would not affect its original purpose it would rather enhance its problem solving. Enabling an additional level of information to the built up area; forming a heterogeneous result.

By applying pressure to some pin points on the paper plane morphing it to a more 3D component that is relate-able to the human attempt of geometrical manipulation

Perspective #5

We have been lead to believe that light must always be of round shape. Paper thin lighting (with the help of 3D printers) is easier to get now a days, ( thinner than a OLED light). This type of new generation lighting will be applied in this proposal, since it was found to be easily applied in everyday objects, gadgets and innovative designs, thinking with light in ways that one would have never thought of being possible. Creativity level would exceed beyond measures for drawings will be life applicable.
